There are few things that define the fantasy genre as well as dragons. They are larger than life, more powerful than anything we experience in our day-to-day lives, and they look freaking awesome.
Perhaps it’s the ancient memory of dinosaurs that contribute to our fascination with dragons. Every culture around the world and throughout history have some kind of version of dragon legend. They are entrenched deep in our psyche.
This is probably why the Dragon Slayer quest in Old School RuneScape got a sequel. Everyone loved the original 2001 Dragon Slayer quest so much, that in 2018, the Dragon Slayer II quest was released to the world of OSRS.
It all starts outside of the Myths’ Guild. The lore of this quest is shrouded in mystery and filled with questions. Throughout the quest, answers will be found. But you must ask yourself—how much are the answers worth to you?
Crandor was once a splendid place. An island alive with commerce, loved by adventurers, and filled with mages. Many members of the Champions’ Guild called this wondrous place their home. But that was 30 years ago. That was before Elvarg was awakened.
On that fateful date, a mighty adventurer awoke a slumbering dragon and Crandor has never been the same. Life changed for that happy island, and not for the better. Questions and mysteries from the past are still influencing today. This quest is the only way to find the answers you seek.
The Dragon Slayer II quest is not for the faint of heart. Generally, completing the entire quest is going to take somewhere over the two-hour mark, which is a pretty long time for a quest. Based on the length of time required to complete the quest, it makes sense that the official difficulty level is “Grandmaster.”
Like many of the higher level quests, Dragon Slayer II involves multiple smaller quests to reach the objectives of the overall quest. In all, you’ll be knocking out about 37 sub-quests including Legends’ Quest, Dream Mentor, A Tail of Two Cats, Animal Magnetism, Ghost Ahoy, Bone Voyage, and Client of Kourend, to name a few.
Each one is a progression from the other as the story builds and you equip yourself with necessary items and experiences to ultimately complete the Dragon Slayer II quest.
When the quest first came out, the first player—Rambo the 3—completed it in 2 hours 55 minutes. If you can beat that time, you’re doing great. Something to keep in mind is the long list of required items. As we mentioned, this quest is rated “Grandmaster” when it comes to difficulty. So the list of required items is pretty extensive.
Overall, Dragon Slayer II is a worthy successor of the first Dragon Slayer quest. Give it a try, you won’t be disappointed! It is involved, multi-layers, mysterious, and (best of all) has dragons in it.
Because let’s be honest—you can’t go wrong when you’ve dragons!
