There are times where something is just too horrible to put a name to, where something defies normal classification. When no other word will do, all that you are left with is the fact that it is… a BEING.
That’s right, today we’re talking about the Arzinian Being of Bordanzan. Quite a mouthful of a name (can you imagine having to sign your library card with such a mouthful?). However, that big name also packs a big punch and uses your weaknesses against you in a fight.
If you go for the “Between a Rock” Quest, you’re going to run into this demonic creature and realize it is no joke. It’s powerful and wily.
The Lore of the Arzinian Being of Bordanzan
The history behind this Being comes from a Dwarven book of lore. Since the creature was the terror of the Keldagrim mines, it makes sense the Dwarves would have recorded a thing or two about it. It also makes sense the Dwarves, under the leadership of the Elders of Keldagrim, would use gold ore to fight back.
It took them three days and three nights, but the Dwarves were finally able to pin down the Being in a tunnel within the mines. It took vast amounts of gold ore, but the combined power was enough to take down the Arzinian Being… temporarily. Instead of actually being vanquished, the Being made all the rocks and rubble coalesce into a cocoon of gold around itself, stopping the Dwarves’ attack but also trapping the Being inside.
Pretty cool how the Being saved itself using its own weakness—the gold ore.
Facing Down a Demon
As we mentioned, the Arzinian Being of Bordanzan is a wily fellow. The Being will pick the combat style where you are weakest and attack you that way. It also changes its name based on your weakness—Arzinian Avatar of Ranging, Arzinian Avatar of Magic, or Arzinian Avatar of Strength.
By bringing up another set of armor or using the right Prayer of Protection, you will be able to overcome the Being’s craftiness.
Your main advantage is that going in you already know his weakness: gold. If you don’t have at least 6 gold ore, you’re out of luck. You must have at least this in your inventory in order to deal any damage to the Being. If you have 15 pieces of gold ore, you’ll bring the Being down from Level 125 to Level 75.
Remember: Get the gold on the Quest, don’t bring it along to begin with otherwise it will be taken out of your inventory. Also, don’t be fooled when you’re mining the gold ore to begin with. The Being will feign anger at your intrusion, making it out like he doesn’t want you taking the gold from his area. This is just a clever ploy since the Being knows that if you have the gold ore, he doesn’t stand a chance.
Defeating the Arzinian Being of Bordanzan is satisfying and rewarding. Defeat means he will be banished for 1,000 years before he can return to terrorize Gielinor again.
